Ever since the age of 8, I have always looked forward to the Winter season when I could finally get back on a snowboard. Since snow only comes around once a year, my family takes an annual snowboarding trip to Colorado where we get to dedicate an entire week to the mountains.

When I turned 14 years old, I was surprised with my very own snowboard. I had never had one of my own, so this felt extra special and I couldn't wait to try it out. When the time came, we took our Colorado trip to a very popular resort called Winter Park.

We spent our time doing run after run, and each time would be even more fun than the last. After the first half of the trip, we decided to take a break from snowboarding and rent snowmobiles for the day. This was my first time riding on a snowmobile, and it was one of the coolest things I have done.

Towards the end of the trip, we had all seemed a bit more comfortable and confident with our skills to start doing more challenging slopes and hitting bigger jumps. Coming off a ramp was one of the coolest feelings, and I kept getting bolder with the jumps I chose to do.

On the final day of our trip, I went through a wood run named "Dilly Dally Ally" that was infamous for being a run of rolling hills and jumps. When I had landed on one of the last jumps, I hit a patch of ice, and my board slid out from underneath me. I reached back to catch myself, but in doing so, I broke my wrist.

I ended up having to be skied down the rest of the mountain to the infirmary, where I had to get x-rays. After seeing the picture, it was clear that my Radius had snapped in half and would need to be set back into place.

Through the whole process of recovery with a cast, to getting it off after six weeks, I was already excited for the next time I could get back out on the snow.

Fast forward to the winter of 2019 and start of 2020, where I returned to Winter Park for the first time since the break. I was determined to go back to the infamous run that caused me so much pain 5 years before to complete it, and I did.

Now that it is almost time for the snowboard season again, I guess it's only a matter of time before another broken bone.
